Our Services

Feeding Therapy

Helping children build positive mealtime experiences
Feeding Therapy supports children who struggle with eating due to sensory issues, developmental delays, oral-motor difficulties, or medical conditions. At our Angier, NC location, we create individualized plans to make mealtimes safer, less stressful, and more successful.

Speech Language Therapy

What We Do

Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach

Definition: A step-by-step method that helps children become more comfortable with food through exploration and gradual exposure.

Example: A child may first be encouraged to touch, then smell, kiss, lick, and eventually taste a new food over several sessions.

Oral-Motor Therapy

Definition: Strengthens the muscles used for eating and swallowing, improving coordination and function.

Example: A therapist may guide a child through mouth exercises or use tools like chewy tubes to improve jaw strength and control.

Food Chaining Strategies

Definition: Expands a child’s diet by introducing new foods that are similar in taste, texture, or appearance to foods they already accept.

Example: If a child eats only plain crackers, the therapist might gradually introduce similar items like cheese-flavored crackers or thin toast.

Sensory Integration for Feeding

Definition: Helps children tolerate food textures, smells, and temperatures by addressing underlying sensory sensitivities.

Example: A child sensitive to mushy textures may begin by exploring dry cereal or crunchy vegetables to increase tolerance.

Parent Coaching and Mealtime Planning

Definition: Trains caregivers to support feeding strategies at home and create consistent, low-pressure mealtime routines.

Example: A therapist may help parents establish a predictable mealtime schedule and show them how to offer new foods without pressure.

How Long Is Treatment?

Feeding Therapy is typically provided 1–2 times per week. Depending on the child’s needs, treatment may last from 3 months to over a year.
