What We Do

Sensory Integration Therapy

Definition: Helps individuals process and respond to sensory information (like touch, sound, and movement) in a more organized way.

Example: A child who is oversensitive to textures may gradually become more comfortable wearing different fabrics or touching various surfaces.

Fine and Gross Motor Skill Development

Definition: Improves small muscle movements (fine motor) like grasping objects and handwriting, and large muscle movements (gross motor) such as walking, jumping, or balancing.

Example: A therapist might work with a child to improve pencil grip for writing or help an adult regain strength and coordination after an injury.

Visual-Motor Coordination Activities

Definition: Enhances the ability to coordinate vision with body movements needed for tasks like writing, catching a ball, or using scissors.

Example: Practicing tracing shapes or playing catch to improve hand-eye coordination.

Training in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Definition: Teaches essential self-care skills, including dressing, grooming, eating, and hygiene, to promote greater independence.

Example: Helping a child learn to button shirts or teaching an adult techniques to safely cook meals.

Use of Adaptive Equipment and Assistive Technology

Definition: Introduces specialized tools or devices that make daily tasks easier and safer.

Example: Providing weighted utensils for children who have difficulty with tremors or recommending grabbers to assist with dressing.
