Every April, Autism Speaks celebrates World Autism Month, beginning with the United Nations–sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, and this year marks the 18th annual observance of this important day. Throughout the month, the focus is on sharing meaningful stories, increasing understanding, and promoting acceptance of people with autism while fostering support on a global scale.

Individuals are encouraged to deepen their impact by earning an Autism Ally Badge through a 30-minute Autism Friendly Training—developed in collaboration with autistic individuals—which offers simple, practical ways to make everyday environments more inclusive, whether at work, in classrooms, or in community spaces like libraries. In addition, advocacy plays a vital role, and supporters are urged to take action by asking Congress to uphold the promise of the Autism CARES Act in the next federal budget by reaching out to their elected representatives and championing continued support for autism initiatives nationwide.
